What are your qualifications?
I hold a Masters degree in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute (MPS), and am a nationally board-certified art therapist (ATR-BC). I am a New York State licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I am credentialed as an Addictions Counselor (CASAC) and have over 20 years experience in mental health and in the treatment of addictive behaviors. I am trained in the powerful treatment modality EMDR, which is a highly effective way of healing from traumatic experiences and negative self-beliefs.

I'm concerned that if therapy helps me feel happier, my work may become less interesting or I may lose the will to create altogether.
The mythic stereotype of the suffering and starving artist is an enduring one. Yet, my experience has been that when artists are struggling emotionally and/or financially, their energy and ability to focus on their creative development is quite compromised. Good therapy helps you move beyond survival issues and begin to thrive. In doing so, you will gain the creative distance and perspective to create work which reflects your innermost concerns.

Do you work with people who are not creative professionals, but who have an interest in developing their creativity?
Yes, I believe that all of us have untapped creative potential. Many individuals can benefit from treatment to address issues affecting their ability to lead a creative and fulfilling life. I have extensive experience working with addictions, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and grief.

What are your fees?
My fee is $125 per individual session and $40 per group session.

Can I use my health insurance?
If you are covered by a point-of-service or indemnity plan with mental health benefits, you may receive reimbursement for a certain number of sessions per calendar year. I will regularly provide you with claim forms for submission to your insurance company.
